How long have you been blogging and are you glad you started? This is a funny question for me to answer because essentially I didn’t see my self as a blogger until this very moment! I’m sure that any minute a real blogger is going to walk in on me hovering over my laptop and say “Amellia Mae stop that at once and leave the blogging to the professionals!” But in answer to the question I have only really been blogging this week (significantly longer in my head if procrastinating about blogging counts). I made a false start last year but quickly lost my nerve and retreated into the safety of reading blogs for a few more months before summoning up the courage to start again. Yes!! Absolutely, I am extremely happy I have started finally. I am hopeful that this is going to be a fun, enjoyable experience and a great outlet for all the thought buzzing around my head daily.
If you could live on one food for the rest of your life what would it be? Bread! It would have to be bread. I have an unhealthy love for bread, there’s nothing nicer then a piece of jam on toast ( real butter of course). I like to think that if bread was my chosen food I could then have all the wonderful things that come from the humble loaf…pizza, garlic bread, donuts!! the list is endless. Perhaps I’m being too presumptuous?
What was your dream career when you were younger, and have you achieved it? I have always been enamoured with the idea of traveling the world and in particular I had a real love affair with America. I had a notion that I wanted to be an Air Hostess for many years when I was growing up as I thought this may satiate my appetite. Unfortunately though I never did earn my wings, I have left that to the experts.
Name 3 famous people that you would love to meet and why?
- Barrack Obama- I have unfathomable respect for this man. Every time I hear him speak I am impressed by his eloquence and his palpable integrity and dedication. I would love to meet him. I have no idea what I would say! I would just be in awe…and that would be enough for me.
- The Duchess of Cambridge-Princess Kate is to me, the most beautiful woman on the earth. I think she is so demure and gentle and would make an excellent afternoon tea companion. I would ask her the secret to her glossy main and those legs…those legs!!! How does one keep ones legs in such good shape?!
- Jonny Wilkinson-Former England Rugby Fly Half and the drop chap responsible for the winning drop goal in the Rugby World Cup 2003. As well as being incredibly easy on the eye, Jonny appears to be someone who possesses and unfaltering work ethic and commitment to his passions. I have read his books and would love to speak with him about how and where he harnesses his discipline and commitment from. Of course I’d be more then happy to discuss matters over a candle-lit dinner for 2! I’m free whenever you are Jonny…
What is your favourite song of all time? eeeeekkk this is too hard! You mean one, just pick one?!?! There are so many great songs. Songs that evoke different emotions for different times in your life, party songs, happy songs, break up songs. Goodness, one, really? Ok, if my life depended on it and I had to pick one I would go with Mumford and Sons “Roll Away Your Stone”. This song never fails to give me goose bumps. I was lucky enough to see these guys live in 2013 on their Gentleman of the Road tour. They were epic and the stadium erupted at this song. If you haven’t heard it, go and put it on Spotify immediately…you’ll be musically all the more enriched for it I promise better still watch it here right now…
What are the 5 things you cannot leave the house without? Definitely my handbag, usually containing my purse, mobile phone, car keys, and a bottle of water.
What made you start your blog? I wanted a way to explore and she all the things I love out there in the big wide world. I sometimes feel that I enjoy something so much or see something that’s so pretty, it seems a shame to keep it to myself. Blogging seems to be a fun outlet and also has endless possibilities. My dream would be for this to become a real way of life and grow from strength to strength 🙂
What blog(s) do you get excited to read when they add new posts? I love reading new posts and often going back and re-reading as there’s often something I’ve missed. I’ve always found reading and consolidating information a challenge, but with blogs it’s somehow different. I enjoy the challenge and find it easier, probably because I enjoy it. One of my particular favourite bloggers is The Londoner. I love her style of writing, succinct and humorous. Her picture are just stunning and tell a story on their own.
What is your favourite place in the whole wide world? California. Without hesitation this is my happy place. I wrote one of my first posts about finding your happy place and for me California is it. You can read my post here I haven’ spent enough time there to know exactly where in the State I would chose to be, but if I had to guess, Santa Barbara would be in the front running, followed closely by San Diego.
How do you keep yourself motivated to blog? At the moment I am enjoying the experience of blogging so much that it really hasn’t been any sort of effort. Rather than having to find or muster the motivation, the motivation has found me. I’ve been keen to get home from work to get ideas down and moving. Generally speaking when I need motivation I often try to focus on the end result and visualise how I will feel when the task is complete. This often helps to fuel the fire enough to get me going because I feel excited and enthused and want to feel the positive emotion of succeeding/completing what it is I’ve set out to do.
What is the best makeup tip you have ever received? I have discovered MAC Fix+ which has transformed how my makeup looks. I love Youtube tutorials and have my own channel which focuses on makeup and beauty. I am trying to learn and improve my makeup technique and have learnt so much in a short space of time. Setting sprays are genius. They soften the overall makeup look and make your skin look flawless. No mater how many layers of primer, foundation, concealer, powder, bronzer highlighter and a partridge in a pear tree! that you put on your face, this genius stuff softens and blurs it all to perfection, leaving you with a dewy complexion that only you know isn’t really yours (don’t tell anyone)
So that’s my 11. What’s yours??? Thanks again to Gemma-Ann for the opportunity to do this, it’s been so much fun!
