A Nice Day for A White Wedding

Large Love sign

It was here! After a night of little sleep and vivd dreams in between it was finally here. I literally jumped out of bed at ridiculous o’clock but I didn’t care; I was beaming with excitement. My little sister was getting married today!

The boy and I drove to town and convened with other members of the bridal party. I left him with a cup of coffee, a paper and my stepmother for company. He was pleased for the respite as my excitement was bubbling over. My chatter had reached fever pitch and I’d barely drawn breath he remarked.

My other sisters and I pilled into one car and hotfooted it to the hairdressers. The bride was already there and her mane was being pulled, curled and contorted into all manner of beautiful shapes. She was quiet and composed.

We laughed and joked and speculated about the day ahead. Our nerves were kept steady with champagne and a dash of orange juice, it was early after all.

We were managed well by the competent hairdressers at Miris and we moved along in their capable hands like a well organised production line; one curled, one styled one spritzed.

Once we were coiffured within an inch of our lives we made our way to the Brides home where we were greeted by the fantastic Wedding Morning Maids Oh my goodness, these girls though. They made the morning a dream. They have unparalleled, almost Jedi like skills in knowing what you want and need without having to ask you. Salmon and cream cheese bagel-done, Champagne top-up – done. Taking the sticky label off 8 pairs of bridesmaid shoes-done. These women were astounding. They were amazingly discreet amongst the wedding party but their presence was intrinsic to the absolute delight and smooth running of the most fun and joyous morning. These ladies even put my Slutty Brownies ( when I say my I mean of course the incomparable and beautiful Rosie of The Londoner‘s Slutty Brownies) into the oven for us to feast on without having to be promoted. Like I said, Jedi’s.

If you’re getting married anytime soon consider having these wonderful ladies at your home in the morning. After we left for the wedding, they cleaned and tidied my sisters home so that on returning, there was no sign of a whirlwind bridal party, all was serene, all was bright. Bliss.

We continued the morning in a jovial fashion. Make up was applied ‘generously’ and camera’s clicked continuously.

The excitement and inebrieation grew in equal measure. Smiles were contagious and the happiness between our family and friends was palpable;Daisy was marrying her sweetheart.

And then it was time, the big reveal. Breath was bated. The bride descended…

She was of course, stunning.

We made our way to the manor house with spirits his ( I can’t show you the photo’s of the journey, there was a complete lack of propriety thanks to the amount of bubbles consumed!)

The day continued magically, the sun shone beautifully and without restraint. It was the perfect spring day to begin the rest of your lives together.

The ceremony was intimate and moving. She walked down the aisle to “stand by me” and they left as husband and wife to “signed, sealed, delivered”.

We emerged into the sunshine with mirth and expectation. We all knew a fun afternoon and evening was ahead.

We feasted and drank like it was our jobs.

There was a cocktail bicycle, a Photo Booth and fish and chip cones were freshly served in the evening. We were full to bursting but still found room for the naked cake and coffee!

We ate and we danced and we drank until there was nothing left except love. Because that is all there is, that every really maters.
