Some days you wake up and you just feel the need to re-boot. After a delightful long weekend with the man, punctuated by lots of indulgence in food, I woke up with a feeling that today should be the day to re-boot my eating habits.
I am as we could say “well covered” or carrying a little extra timber on my frame. I regularly flirt with diets but feel that I am not ready for a long term relationship with them; “it’s not you it’s me” I often console them with. But the truth is Summer is fast approaching. She has given us a taste of what is to come with flashes of her incandescent sunshine and warmer evenings in the garden (Gin in hand optional), and so it is time for action.
I decided this morning to make a start with a healthy breakfast. The fridge was surprisingly well stocked given the excess of the weekend. I rustled up some fresh fruit and yoghurt. A bright bowl of inspiration to get me motivated.
In an effort to keep things interesting I decided to dine al fresco. I feel that there is something “treat” like about enjoying your food outdoors.
Although just the beginning of my new regime I already feel better for getting up, getting outside and getting some superfoods down me. I feel righteous as only serial yo-yo dieters do when they make a good choice. Long may it continue…at least until lunchtime.
Alas, if nothing else I have given my hair, skin and nails a good dose of vitamins this morning. With warmer weather ahead they’ll need all the goodness that they can get.
And the fresh air is certainly a boost to the system. A little cooler today then it has been over the weekend, but still a treat to be outdoors, taking it easy and enjoying the beauty of doing nothing…Dolce Far Niente
