Continuing our 36 hour adventure in London we booked ourselves into the dreamy Dalloway Terrace for afternoon tea. It was my birthday and I had seen on Instagram that Dalloway Terrace had been turned into a winter wonderland and so I couldn’t wait to take a look in person.
We first visited Dalloway Terrace last year for my birthday and in fact stayed at the Bloomsbury Hotel to which Dalloway is attached. I would just quickly say that this hotel is also a fantastic option for staying in the heart of the great city. If you are visiting the theatres, the west end or the Covent Garden area, the Bloomsbury Hotel is fantastically situated within walking distance of all of this and more. It is one of my favourite places to stay and we will definitely be back there at some point in the near future.
Dalloway Terrace is fast becoming something of an iconic spot to eat in London and regularly makes appearances on instagram. Brunch and afternoon tea is something of a speciality and dinner and lunch is also a special treat.
On arrival we were given a warm and professional greeting and shown to our cosy table. Despite our arriving half an hour early we were accommodated and made to feel most welcome.
We were promptly graced with a glass of Pierre Jouet Champagne,a little bird had told them it was birthday, what a lovely touch.
We ordered our Bloomsbury afternoon tea which is quoted to be the “capitals finest”. I would’t argue with this. Service was prompt and the food was deliciously fresh. We cozied up into our faux skin rugs and nestled the cashmere and wool blankets on our knees.
Everything was deliciously elegant and presented in adorable silverware and delicate stripped china.
We dove into our tower of treats and whiled away the next hour in the sumptuous winter wonderland.
These scones (scone as in gone!) were light and delicious. I’m a jam on first girl but don’t tell the folks in Cornwall.
They even make their own bread which is utterly delicious.
We spent a little longer eating ourselves into a food frenzy, washed down with plenty of fresh and light tea and a few more glasses of fizz.
Dalloway terrace at the Bloomsbury hotel is an adorable spot to stop and eat. I’d highly recommend it and especially if you find yourself in the city during the festive season, it really is transformed and something quite magical.
Time slipped away and before we knew it the sun had set and it was time to head back to our hotel.
Dalloway Terrace at the Bloomsbury Hotel is ideally situated just a few short minutes walk from Seven Dials. We headed back on foot and wandered through the beautiful Monmouth Street.
Some of my favourite shops are right here in Seven dials. You can pretty much get everything you’ll ever need within this square mile. Brunch at Covent Garden Hotel, Cashmere at Club Monaco, essential oils at Neals Yard and whatever takes your fancy at Coco De Mere. Why not!
I stopped for a quick peruse in Club Monaco, it was my birthday after all.
A few moments and pretty pink cashmere scarf latter, we then headed on towards covent garden and passed through the lovely St Martins Courtyard. Again this is another of many delightful shopping spots in London, with White Company, Eileen Fisher ,COS and many more shops to peruse. It’s also a great place to stop for something to eat with plenty of choice from the delightful Bill’s to something lighter at Coffee Republic. You can even pick up a pretty bunch of flowers from the Covent Garden Flower co and a rather fab blow dry at Blow Ltd if you so wish. It’s all there to be enjoyed.
We meandered about the cobbled streets in an effort to walk off our generous afternoon tea.
With bellies full we headed back to the hotel where we fell into a contented sugar fuelled slumber.
Dalloway Terrace is a delight any time of the year so do pay it a visit. Enjoy!
