Recently I wrote about some serious hair drama and the soul searching I’ve had to do to begin managing it. Sometimes a nice hair mask just doesn’t quite cut it so if you’re having more then a lacklustre hair day I’d suggest starting by reading this post first.
Now that you’ve done that, lets get back to business. We’ve taken care of the inside, so we are quite at our leisure to polish up the outside!
If you are looking for ultimate luxury for your tresses then apparently you need look no further. Rossano Ferretti is the Italian hair brand perportedly bringing shine, volume and lustre to hair by the bucket load. Rossano Ferretti is to hair what D&G is to fashion…or is it?
The brand claims to combine the absolute best botanicals with cutting edge technology to produce an expert hair care range that delivers results, whatever your hair type.
Quite a claim. It certainly peaked my interest!
During aforementioned hair drama I was scouring my usual stomping ground, Space NK, and stumbled upon Rossano Ferretti. The reviews were amazing and some of the reviews even mentioned some of the specific issues that I had been having with my hair.
The price tag however, is insane. I’m not usually one to quibble when it comes to the price of products, but even for me this was a little steep. However it promised the world so I diligently dropped 2 of the best rated products into my basket.
Here’s what I got:
Prodigio Regenerating Treatment £82
My Concern: Sever dryness, dull lacklustre hair, thinning and breakage
Product claims
“DRY HAIR – DAMAGED HAIR – COLOR-TREATED HAIR
Reconstructing pre-wash treatment, rich in Hydrolyzed Keratin, leaves the hair extraordinarily shiny and silky, after just one application. This luxury, professional product deeply penetrates the hair shaft, restores hair cuticles and provides long-term improvement of hair health.”
Customer rating: 4.5/5 stars on Space NK
My rating: 3/5
So, first-things-first, the price. I mean really? £82 notes for a hair mask. I’m not sure if I’m getting old, mean or what, but this was steep. However the claims were grand and the reviews better then good so I sucked it up.
For your money your get a generous 200ml of product. The packaging is quite pleasant, a glass pot as opposed to plastic. The presentation is black and white, chic, aesthetically pleasing enough.
The scent, which is something that was raved about in the reviews, was not at all to my liking. I don’t like cocoa butter and this is definitely the dominant scent. I expected or probably if I’m honest wanted, something fresher, citrus or floral is my preferred scent. So this is entirely subjective. If you are into rich, deep warm scents you’re gonna love this. If not, like me, don’t worry. It’s not overpowering and you aren’t left with the scent on your hair.
It is a thick rich consistency, you really feel like you are feeding your hair with goodness. You don’t need much; a little goes a long way. If you have anything other then Afro or mixed race hair, you’re going to need even less. This is going to last you a long time. It has a 12-month life from opening which is great.
You can use it as a quick 10-15 minute treatment, probably best if you have fine or oily hair, but otherwise I would suggest leaving this on for at least 30 minutes or better still overnight to let the ingredients work their magic.
There’s no doubt about it, my hair is softer and appears more hydrated following this treatment. I’ve been using it once a week, sometimes twice for several months now. I prefer to leave it in overnight; my hair is thick and coarse and needs as much hydration as possible.
It’s really very lovely, but if I’m honest (which I always am with you) I’m underwhelmed. If it were priced better I think I would be happier. I just can’t discern what this has over other masks such as Oribe, Kerastase or Shu Umera. The price tag is the only thing that sets it apart.
Would I recommend it:
If you have the cash to splash then yes, you’ll be happy with the results. Otherwise there are masks on the market that are going to offer you equal results but with change from £50.
Prodigio Regenerating Potion £42
My Concern: Sever dryness, dull lacklustre hair, thinning and breakage
Product claims:
“ALL TYPES OF HAIR
Super food for your hair, a luxury oil, to nourish and feed your hair any time. Naturally protects against heat, styling damage and pollution, whilst making it soft, silky and shiny with no oily residue. Rich in antioxidants and Omega-6.”
Customer rating: 5 stars on Space NK
My rating: 3.5
This is luxurious hair oil or more specifically, hair treatment oil. It is described as a “super food” for the hair due to the impressive natural ingredients and also it’s thermal protective properties. So you can use this as a treatment and a protection product if like me you are no stranger to the straighteners.
It can be used on wet or dry hair which is always a winner for me; I wash my hair 2 or a maximum of 3 times a week so being able to use this when my hair is dry means I can use it liberally.
You get a generous 50ml of the oil which is going to last you well. I’ve been using this for over a month on the regular and it shows no signs of depletion.
The oil has a combination of fruit, grain and seed oils and is, according to Space NK, rich in antioxidants that help to protect the hair against daily stressors and free radicals. It has Omega 6, a fatty acid, which works to smooth and nourish the hair.
It is lovely and lightweight and doesn’t leave a residue in the hair. It also smells quite divine.
Again I’ve noticed that this product is doing something good for my hair. I love running it through my dry hair after styling, which definitely looks more hydrated and shiny when I use this. But again, it’s the price tag. I’m just somewhat underwhelmed. Perhaps I’m expecting too much, perhaps my hair is too damaged to really see what this stuff can do. Or perhaps this isn’t for my hair type?
Again for me and my hair, I feel that there are other products on the market such as Moroccan oil that can do the job without breaking the bank.
Would I recommend it:
Gosh this is tougher, it has lots of positives going for it and it definitely has done a little regenerating of my troubled tresses, but as I said above. I’m just a bit underwhelmed. I think the price tag would again put me off recommending this because I feel that there are likely to be a few more products that work just as well but will leave you change for at least a double G&T.
Both have been a pleasure to use, and without a doubt my hair has been better for having them in my life. My wallet on the other hand, not so much.
Will I buy them again? I couldn’t say a definite “no”, if they were on offer, I’d definitely think about it.
I hope this post has helped. By all means leave a comment below if you have any questions.
Until next time lovelies.

Such a useful post! I have struggled finding a hair mask I love & nice to know that expensive doesn’t always mean amazing in the hair mask industry! 💕💕
Absolutely Kirsty, I’m a little bit of a product snob but this experience really made me stop and think. It’s about the ingredients and the results, not the price tag. Thanks for reading lovely 💕
Wow those price tags, I think I’m too old to warrant that spending on my hair that is wrecked with meds anyways. But I loved reading that price doesn’t always mean best x
I don’t mind paying a bit extra for something that is absolutely amazing so these prices would put me off, like you say though, it’s tempting if there’s an offer on! I do that with skincare all of the time! X
Wow! These sounds super expensive! Not sure I’d spend that much as I like trying soooo many different things that I probably wouldn’t get the use out of them. I’m currently doing a “no heat hair challenge” – might be good for your hair too – let’s do it together?
